Bio:
I was raised on a dairy farm in northern Jackson county. Cows and my lover for horses were a part of my life since I can remember. I’ve always fancied myself more a cowboy than farmer, although I probably walked through more horse and cow manure than any cowboy ever did.
In 1975 I enrolled in Rio Grand community college and had to take a P.E. class and they offered a horsemanship class at Bob Evans stables- of course I signed up. That led to summer jobs at the farm and two of my jobs were Trail Boss for overnight trail rides, and gentling and breaking to lead Quarter Horse foals for the 4-H giveaway.
In 1985 I saw an episode of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson that featured two “Cowboy Poets” and was hooked on that style of story telling. A few years later a friend and I went around Ohio telling stories of the country lifestyle, whether western or just country.
I worked 30 years for the Jackson branch of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Farm. I retired from there in 2010. I now spend my time painting, caring for the lawn and house and generally annoying my wife.
