Dr. Gunther von Hagens’ unique and spectacular exhibition BODY WORLDS: Animal Inside Out is an unforgettable trip under nature’s skin, fur and feathers.

It offers visitors an unprecedented view into the interior of the body of spectacular specimens – from a tiny mouse to a 16 ft. tall giraffe.

Animal Inside Out explores the most amazing aspects of animal physiology, and explains how animals move, breathe, connect, eat and reproduce.

Animal Inside Out, a BODY WORLDS production, has traveled to major science centers and museums across North America.

The best holiday escape in southeastern Ohio is “Gallipolis In Lights”, a holiday light display that is guaranteed to lift your holiday spirits this year. Thousands of lights fill the Gallipolis City Park from dusk till dawn, November 27th – January 1st.  Created each year by a group of dedicated community volunteers who light up the park like a scene from a romantic Christmas movie. Thanks to their determination and hard work, Gallipolis In Lights has been named a part of the Ohio Holiday Lights Trail for the seventh consecutive year! And in 2022 was named the the Today Show’s Merriest Main Street! Watch the video below!

Gallipolis In Lights begins each year with the Official Park Lighting, which will be held Wednesday, November 27th. Beginning at 5:30 PM, entertainment on stage, along with LIVE reindeer, and FREE hot chocolate and cookies! Then the lighting ceremony starts at 7:00ish PM at the Bandstand with the flipping of the lights switch. Following will be the annual fireworks display! *Subject to change*

Visitors can explore the lights display to find that perfect photo op as holiday music plays throughout the park. There is parking located all around the park so visitors can also stay toasty in their cars as they take in the beauty and magic. If you keep your eyes peeled you may get a sight of Ole’ Saint Nick, who is known to be seen riding around the park.

Come out and compete for “know-it-all” bragging rights and chintzy prizes at Bossard Trivia Night.

Each month, take part in Bossard Library’s Trivia Night and see how much you know about current events, science, history, pop culture, and more. Trivia Nights usually occur on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM but can be scheduled for a different date and time.

Participants can play individually, be matched up with others to create a team, or bring a team of family and friends. The maximum number of participants for each team is 8 people. Clever but appropriate team names are encouraged.

This will be a multi-round competition with questions ranging from easy to challenging. Teams will submit answers on paper so no one will have to stand up in front of everyone, push a buzzer, or feel self-conscious.

Trivia begins promptly at 6:00 PM, so plan on arriving a few minutes before to get situated with your team.

Trivia Night is free and open to teens, adults, and families with children ages 13+.

The winning individual or team will receive a nominal prize, have their photo placed on the Library’s Facebook page and, most importantly, will own the bragging rights to Bossard Trivia Night for the month.

For the nights of December 5th, 12th, and 19th, residents and visitors of Gallia County are welcome to attend the FREE “Heritage Lights Tour”. Select Gallia County museums and attractions will be open and decorated for the Christmas season and admission will be free.

Downtown Gallipolis Museums have collaborated to create exclusive Christmas versions of their tours to help even the biggest Grinch get into the holiday spirit! The Heritage Lights Tour is a drive-yourself leisure tour that allows guests to take as much time as they would like to explore the museums. In addition to the Christmas tours, some museums will also be hosting special entertainment and other holiday fun.

The individual classes in this series will be on November 29th, December 6th, December 13th, and December 20th, so you can sign up for any of them that you’d like.
We will be creating Tiffany Method stained glass suncatchers (3 per class) to catch the beauty of the 12 Days of Christmas. All tools and materials are provided each week. Glass is painted and baked/kiln fired before classes, so each piece is ready to go!

Our 3rd annual Christmas Craft and Vendor Fair will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 10 AM – 2 PM. The proceeds from this event are used to help fund youth events such as Winter Retreat and Summer Camp. Please consider giving an informational flyer to friends and potential vendors.

Parade Rules
1. Parade line-up information & maps will be emailed the week of the Parade.
2. No other Santa than our REAL SANTA who will be at the end of the parade. We don’t want to confuse our younger parade watchers.
3. Horses, Mules, Ponies, etc. units MUST clean up after live animals as they move through the parade route OR have animals equipped with manure bags.
4. All parade units must perform in a forward motion, no pauses, stops or back steps.
5. All units must be at the parade area designated in your line-up packet at 12:00 pm, line-up will be coordinated by the local Kiwanis Club.
6. Nothing will be thrown, passed out, given away, or distributed by anyone riding in the parade or on a float. Walkers may hand items to attendees.
7. No excessive use of sirens or air horns.
8. Any explicit language, banners, posters, or slogans can result in your immediate dismissal from the parade.
9. Breaking of any rules will result in ineligibility to enter into future Gallipolis Christmas Parades.
