The Gallipolis City Park is the site of the first settlement in Gallia County. Today it is host to many community events including the River Recreation Festival, Gallia County BBQ Festival and the Christmas Lights Display, Gallipolis in Lights. There are three Ohio Historical Site Markers placed around the park. Enjoy picnic tables and bench swings overlooking the Ohio River. The Park has several memorials of interest as well:
- Kerr Memorial Fountain: The fountain was donated by the family of Charles D. Kerr, who owned and operated a drugstore on Second Avenue. The fountain was “in memory” of their son who drowned in the Ohio River.
- The Bandstand: Of Eastlake influence, the Bandstand is the focal point of the Gallipolis City Park. It was built by the Stirlings, father and son, circa 1876 as a memorial to Gallia County Civil War Veterans.
- Spirit of the American Doughboy: Built in 1931 to honor veterans of World War I. The memorial was enlarged to include a wall listing the names of all Gallia County War Veterans.
