Ohio Watercolor Society's 37th Annual Exhibition January 22nd - February 22nd

The French Art Colony, regional multi-arts center, will showcase the travel show portion of the Ohio Watercolor Society's 37th Annual Exhibition, January 22 - February 22. The exhibit includes award-winning works selected from the 2014 Watercolor Ohio, juried competition.

Juror for the competition, M.E. "Mike" Bailey, NWS, expressed great enthusiasm and respect for this year's entries. In his juror's statement he highlights the quality of work on the show, "This select few paintings really show in a powerful way the extremes of possibility in painting skill and creativity!"

Most artists represented in the show are from throughout Ohio, with a couple of exceptions. The full exhibit opened at the Mansfield Art Center. The travel show will have stops throughout Ohio; including Medina, Sidney, Piqua, Chillicothe, Dayton, and Gallipolis.

The French Art Colony's exhibition will be open free of charge to visitors Tuesday-Friday, from 9:00-4:00; Saturday, from 10:00-3:00; Sunday, from 1:00-5:00; and closed on Mondays.   The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this organization with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Painting with Valerie Thomas at the FAC

The French Art Colony is offering ~ Painting with Valerie Thomas

Acrylic Painting classes with Valerie Thomas will be offered at the French Art Colony on Tuesday evenings beginning in January, 2015. Youth classes (ages 8-12) will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 pm and Adult classes (ages 13 & up) will be from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.

The fee is $15 per class. Students will need to provide their own materials (can be adjusted according to students choice of medium)1 canvas (stretched or board), set of beginner acrylic paints, set of beginner brushes, some sort of palette (paper plates, paper towels, plastic containers with lids, etc.) *Optional Table easel

Public Hearing - New Amphitheater

The City of Gallipolis will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the Gallipolis Municipal Building, 333 Third Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio.

The public hearing is for the purpose of allowing citizens to view the location and design of the new amphitheater. The City of Gallipolis will have representatives present to answer questions.

Copies of the design will be available at the meeting.

A second public hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

Alice In Wonderland Audition Information

Audition packets will be available for pick up beginning
Friday, February 6th.

Alice In Wonderland, an imaginative children's theatre adventure by Kathryn Schultz Miller. This production is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts: Arts Engagement in American Communities Grant, which provides free theatre for schools as part of the Riverby Theatre Guild's "Stories On Stage" project. Performing in April / May 2015.

Audition information: Roles for youth actors, Pre-K through 12th grade. Auditions at the Riverby Theatre Guild Studio, 59 Court Street, Gallipolis, will begin on Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 am and Monday, March 9th at 6:00 pm.

This production will be directed by Lucia Colley Jones.

12 Angry Men

A classic courtroom drama, adapted for the stage by Sherman L. Sergel. Based on the Emmy Award winning television movie by Reginald Rose.

Performing February 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th & 21st at the Riverby Theatre Guild, 59 Court Street, Gallipolis, Ohio. Showtimes are 7:00 pm; Sunday 3:00 pm. Tickets are $10 adults; $5.00 students.
