Summer Reading Program
Dive into reading this summer with our “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading program.
Children, tweens, and teens are encouraged to register for the Summer Reading Program beginning Monday, June 6.
Upon registering, participants ages three and over will be placed on the list to receive their very own ocean-themed Create-A-Critter kit, while supplies last.
Participants under the age of three will be placed on the list to receive their very own board book, while supplies last.
For every three books read or read to them (up to 30), elementary-age children through age 7 will be awarded a brag tag to collect, wear, hang off a backpack, etc. Maximum of 10 brag tags per child.
For tweens (ages 8-12) and teens (ages 13-18), brag tags will be awarded for every book read (up to 10). Maximum of 10 brag tags per tween/teen.
Only books, audiobooks, and graphic novels that are borrowed from Bossard Library count toward the Summer Reading Program.
Items borrowed digitally from the Ohio Digital Library and Hoopla also count toward the Summer Reading Program.
Special Summer Reading Program events include an “Oceans of Funny” comedy magic show on Monday, June 13 at 2:00 PM; a visit from the Columbus Zoo on Saturday, June 25 at 2:00 PM; and a production of “The Little Mermaid” by Bright Star Theatre on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00 AM. These events are supported by the State Library of Ohio with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
